Vanity URLs for Maps!

July 16th, 2010

Due to popular demand, we now support vanity URLs for maps, e.g., banksy.zeemaps.com, refers to the popular artist Banksy’s graffiti locations.

To create a vanity URL, use the Map -> Vanity URL menu item on your map. Enter the name for your URL, preceding the zeemaps.com. Select the term (3, 6 or 12) months and then click the Order button to pay for your URL. That’s it, for the term that you have subscribed, you will be able to access your map using the vanity URL of your choice.

For map URL’s with your own company domain, e.g., maps.mycompany.com, contact us and we will set it up for you.

The cost for zeemaps.com vanity URL’s is $1.99 per month for a year, $2.45 per month for half-a-year, and $2.95 per month for a quarter. For other domains, additional costs may apply.

Hand Drawn Regions

July 2nd, 2010

For a while now, we have supported the ability to color different regions of the world using ZeeMaps, e.g., countries, states (US, Canada, China), and cities (US).

We are pleased to now offer a new capability to mark and color arbitrary polygons on the map. Use the Additions -> Highlight Region menu item to get a dialog for adding a region. Style the polygon by setting the boundary and fill properties for your polygon. Then, click on the “Hand Draw” link in the dialog. This should allow you to draw a polygon on the map.

Once you have added the polygon, you should be able to modify it by clicking on it. Only Map Admins can make modifications to polygons. Remember to click on the Update button in the dialog after you have made changes to your region.
